Are Christian's still required to Tithe?

Likely, you may have asked yourself the same question. There are a lot of different opinions with respect to this often debated and something uncomfortable topic; however, most would be shocked when they actually find out what the word of God says on this matter. As such, we will be exploring different passages starting from the old testament and working our way to the new testament. For only then can we get a full picture on this topic.

The Name of God

I love Jehovah’s witnesses but I must sadly say that they are somewhat misguided. I say this honestly and with keen understanding because I actually used to be one. However, eventually we had to part ways based on differences in beliefs.

For one, they considered all other churches (i.e. Christendom) as an integral part of Babylon the Great (Revelations 17:5) which is believed to be the world empire of false religion. However, this is based on some failures in the...

Just ain't cool with Jesus...

I had an interesting conversation with my cousin today on the topic of religion, sin, and other terms/obstacles that hinder some of us from coming to know God more intimately. As a result, I have decided to make these topics the subject of this and upcoming blogs as they are probably one of the most controversial, if not the most common, reasons why people say they just can't be cool with Jesus.

First of all, who is this man we call ...

12 Years a Slave

I recently had the priviledge of watching the movie "12 Years A slave", and I must honestly say that no other film has broken my heart so many times in one showing as this one. 12 Years a Slave is a 2013 British-American historical drama film and an adaptation of the 1853 memoir Twelve Years a Slave by Solomon Northup, a New York State-born free African American man who was kidnapped in Washington, D.C., in 1841 and sold into slavery.(Source: Wikipedia) Each seen was riddl...

Titles

Bishop, Reverend, Father, Pastor, Sensei, & so on. Why do we feel that we have to add a title before our names in order for us to be identified as a minister of the gospel? I've even heard one brother say  in the middle of a sermon, "Don't call me 'brother!' I'm your pastor!"Jesus was so much against this that He spoke about it specifically while here on earth. It is written:

Lamp Shades

They serve a purpose, namely: To Beautify The Light. There are so many different types to choose from. Different Colors, and shapes. Nevertheless, looking back at Jesus words in the book of Matthew Chapter 5 verse 15, I wonder if they are even necessary. Jesus said, "No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house." Aren't these shades just baskets? They...

Head Coverings? Yes or No? (1 Corinthians 11: 2 - 16)

It is about time we settle this whole dispute over the issue of headship. No other issue has been more of a source of disargreements in some relationships than this one, so I have taken the time to write this letter in order to cover the different points and hopefully help us all reach a mutually acceptable conclusion. First of all, I must note that the most important thing that a wife can do for her husband in a marriage is to treat him wi...

The Episode/ Jehovah's Witness

In the middle of my wife's delivery of my first born son, Caleb, a whole team of nurses rush in suddenly because they observed Caleb's heart rate decreasing dangerously low. As I stared at the frantic scene, I was filled with dread thinking of the possibility that my son might die; and if so, I was somehow responsible.(Exodus 34:7; 2 Samuel 12: 14 - 18) Yet, I know now that this wasn't the case but we sometimes have the tendency to seek answers in certain dire situations with...

War Zone/ Cancerous

Ever since I became a believer, and consequently a member of the body of Christ, I have been searching for God's will for my life. Basically, I’ve been looking for his place for me to shine and accomplish my ministry. This search has led me to many different places and congregations, but no matter where I ended up, I always eventually came to the sad realization that this wasn't my final destination. As a result, I’...
