Disney Soul movie review

Just finished watching the movie - Soul. As the ending song stated, - it is aaight. Does give good insight about the meaning of life. Namely: life is not so much about completing goals and items off a dream list but rather the comprehensive collection of experiences that ultimately reflect a life well lived. I did find the absence with respect to Jesus Christ in the afterlife scenes a bit troubling; however, I understand why as this film was primarily intended for mass consumption. Therefore,... The benefits of being weak

I was feeling so tired lately to point that I was struggling to get out of bed. Call it depression, laziness, tiredness, I do not know. But I just could not find any strength or motivation to get through the day. Then I read one of my favorite verses from 2nd Corinthians 12:8-10 which states: Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness. So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Ch... Read Full Post »

Have you ever feel so tired (Physically, mentally, emotionally) that you just felt like giving up?

We all feel like that sometimes, but I just wanted to share something that Jesus said to us that can help you when you feel like that.

Its found in Matthew 11:28-30, where were we read:

Jesus said “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I a...

Plan of Action

For a long time now, I have been unproductive in various aspects of my life, namely: spiritually, occupationally, physically, socially, and mentally. Therefore, I think it is time to make a resolution to improve in these areas. However, I must soberly note that no amount of resolutions will change a course of living without the will power to follow through. We often look to external means as solutions whether it be praying to God, taking prescriptions, seeking encouragement fro...

Head Coverings? Yes or No? (1 Corinthians 11: 2 - 16)

It is about time we settle this whole dispute over the issue of headship. No other issue has been more of a source of disargreements in some relationships than this one, so I have taken the time to write this letter in order to cover the different points and hopefully help us all reach a mutually acceptable conclusion. First of all, I must note that the most important thing that a wife can do for her husband in a marriage is to treat him wi...

Courageous - Honor Begins at Home

Last night, we rented the movie, 'Courageous,' from redbox and boy were we surprised. That movie was so good, and taught us so many life lessons. Namely, a fatherless house is one of the most devastating factors to the increase in gangs in the world. During one scene, it was said, "A recent study was done on the increase in violent gang activity. In almost every case, each gang member had a similar attribute: runaways, drop outs, kids on drugs, and teens in prison. That attribu...

One word: Slow. Plot took too long to move and I found myself falling asleep in the middle of the movie. I once saw the end of the movie at a drive-in, but now I had the opportunity to rent it in the comfort of my own home. Although I couldn't sit through the entire middle part of it, I was still able to obtain a lesson from it. Namely, we should imitate those kid's sense of determination in the face of all obstacles. Despite the fact that the world was falling apart around the...

Keax:

A man of Asian decent with a dark blue hoodie came to my door the other night. He kept knocking on my door, so I asked, "Who is it?" He asked, "Is this Nicolas Joachim?" I asked again, "Who is it?" He asked again, "Is this Nicolas Joachim?" Then my mind started to gravitate towards a movie that I recently watched, namely: Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2. As a result, I thought to myself tha...

The Episode/ Jehovah's Witness

In the middle of my wife's delivery of my first born son, Caleb, a whole team of nurses rush in suddenly because they observed Caleb's heart rate decreasing dangerously low. As I stared at the frantic scene, I was filled with dread thinking of the possibility that my son might die; and if so, I was somehow responsible.(Exodus 34:7; 2 Samuel 12: 14 - 18) Yet, I know now that this wasn't the case but we sometimes have the tendency to seek answers in certain dire situations with...
